N O T I C E Municipal Services Commission 2025 Annual Hydrant Flushing Program The Municipal Services Commission Water Department will begin our annual Fire Hydrant Flushing Program on Monday, June 2nd. Flushing will begin at 7:30am and end at 3:00pm Monday through Friday taking approximately 10 business days to complete. Our Hydrant Flushing Program is important to our water system and is an integral part of our goal to deliver the safest and highest quality water possible. MUNICIPAL SERVICES COMMISSION CONTINUES WORKING WITH FEDERAL AND STATE AGENCIES REGARDING PFAS CONTAMINANTS
NEWS RELEASE: In August 2014, the Municipal Services Commission (MSC) of the City of New Castle voluntarily placed their wells out of service due to the detection of the unregulated compounds Perflurorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) in the City water supply. PFOS and PFOA are part of a group of chemicals known as per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The MSC purchased water from Artesian Water Company until a temporary water treatment system could be put in place to remove the contaminates from the City’s water.
