NEWS RELEASE WATER METER REPLACEMENT The Municipal Services Commission (MSC) is coming to the end of its electric and water meter replacement project. The batteries in the existing water meter communication modules have been failing. The meters still read accurately but it requires a manual read. Many customers have been providing the manual read each month but on other meters, staff has to visit the meter each month to get billing reads or estimate the read. ROAD CLOSURES THIS WEEKEND
As part of Municipal Services Commission (MSC) Water Main Project portions of Delaware Street will be closed this weekend. The intersection of 6th and Delaware Street will be closed beginning Friday 6-21-19 evening approximately 6:00pm and is expected to be opened by Monday 6-24-19 morning approximately 5:00am Detours will be in effect throughout the weekend. Please pay attention to detour signs. There may be an increase in traffic due to the detours, the MSC appreciates your patience while improvements are made to the City’s water system. We understand there has been some confusion regarding the Sewer Main relining project being performed by New Castle County with their contractor AM-Liner East, Inc. and the Municipal Services Commission (MSC) of the City of New Castle’s Water Main Cleaning and Lining Project performed by MSC’s contractor J.
