Date Posted: Tuesday, February 26th, 2019NEWS RELEASE: In August 2014, the Municipal Services Commission (MSC) of the City of New Castle voluntarily placed their wells out of service due to the detection of the unregulated compounds Perflurorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) in the City water supply. PFOS and PFOA are part of a group of chemicals known as per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The MSC purchased water from Artesian Water Company until a temporary water treatment system could be put in place to remove the contaminates from the City’s water. Flushing will begin at 7:30am and end at 3:00pm Monday through Friday taking approximately 10 business days to complete. Your understanding and cooperation during this process is appreciated.
