ROAD CLOSURES THIS WEEKEND

As part of Municipal Services Commission (MSC) Water Main Project portions of Delaware Street will be closed this weekend. We understand there has been some confusion regarding the Sewer Main relining project being performed by New Castle County with their contractor AM-Liner East, Inc. and the Municipal Services Commission (MSC) of the City of New Castle’s Water Main Cleaning and Lining Project performed by MSC’s contractor J. Update on MSC Water Main Project

Update on MSC Water Main Project The April 24, 2019, Municipal Services Commission (MSC) Community meeting was fairly well attended and citizens had great questions.  Since the meeting the Water Department has had success gaining access to customers’ homes to insure the temporary water service would function.  The project is expected to begin on June 10, 2019.  The 6th Street intersection portion of the project will require road closures and DelDOT has indicated the work should be done over a weekend.  The tentative schedule is for the weekend of June 22nd and 23rd pending DelDOT’s approval. MSC Water Main Project Meeting Wednesday, April 24, 2019   A reminder the Municipal Services Commission (MSC) will be having a Community Meeting on Wednesday April 24, 2019 from 5:00-6:00pm to present details regarding the cleaning and relining of the water main on Delaware St. that runs from 4th St. to 6th St. and the water main on East 4th St. that runs from Delaware St. to Harmony St.  The meeting will be at the Court House.    Questions regarding the meeting should be directed to Customer Service at Municipal Services Commission (302) 322-2330.

Tyler Notify™ is a system connected to the Municipal Services Commission’s (MSC) Customer Service data base.  It is designed to allow local governments/utilities to send messages and interact with citizens via their telephone.   NEWS RELEASE: In August 2014, the Municipal Services Commission (MSC) of the City of New Castle voluntarily placed their wells out of service due to the detection of the unregulated compounds Perflurorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) in the City water supply. PFOS and PFOA are part of a group of chemicals known as per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The MSC purchased water from Artesian Water Company until a temporary water treatment system could be put in place to remove the contaminates from the City’s water. UPDATE: Due to rising energy load, we are asking customers to voluntarily extend their energy reduction efforts by one more hour (until 10AM). Every little bit helps save energy and money. Due to extreme cold temperatures and high energy demand, we are asking municipal customers to VOLUNTARILY reduce electric use Thursday, January 31st. Power Saver Hours are from 6am to 9am, with peak usage expected at 8am. Customers are encouraged to lower their electric use during these high demand hours.
